Dwyane Wade Talks About 2016 Free Agency

Upon LeBron James' departure from Miami, Pat Riley tried to rebuild the Miami Heat roster for a short term with only three players having contracts through 2016: Chris Bosh, Shabazz Napier and Josh McRoberts. Dwyane Wade's contract expires in 2016, along with six more player contracts. This means that Wade will become a free agent and the Heat will have to decide what to do from that point and on: whether to resign Wade and other players or to bring new players, possibly superstars to the South Beach once again.
Free agency of 2016 will be filled with amazing players, such as Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, Joakim Noah and many more! And yes, LeBron will also be a free agent in 2016 if he doesn't opt out of his contract after this season, which is highly unlikely.
Dwyane Wade said the following regarding the free agency which will happen in less than two years:
I'm not really focused on waiting until 2016. I don't know what that means. That's their organization. They do what they want from that standpoint. I'm not involved in that. I'm a player. Whatever decision they make from a 2016 standpoint is on them. The only thing I can control is the decisions I make and what I do. Whoever is here, whatever we decide to do, you just want to be competitive. That's all I ask for myself and for our guys. Nobody knows what's going to happen in 2016; 2016, to me, is so far away and I hope people aren't waiting on it thinking we're going to land this quote, unquote Big Fish because it might not happen for you. No one knows if Riley is going to wait until 2016. It's all speculation.
Is Pat Riley going to wait until 2016? That's a question. There are already rumors regarding trade of Luol Deng and we will see if Riley is planning to ship Deng away for possibly a big man. There are also a few more pieces included in trade talk and if someone is going to be traded, then it might happen in the next few days.
Miami Heat is still in rebuilding mode and it will take a while until they turn into title contenders. Could it be in 2016? What do you think is Riley going to do?

James, Kyrie, Nets in ‘I Can’t Breathe’ Shirts

NEW YORK (AP) — LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and multiple players on the Brooklyn Nets are wearing “I Can’t Breathe” shirts as they warm up for a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn.
Kevin Garnett and Deron Williams were among four Nets wearing the shirts before the game in support of the family of Eric Garner, who died July 17 after a police officer placed him in a chokehold when he was being arrested for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes.
Chicago star Derrick Rose wore one before a game Saturday and James said Sunday he wanted one. He got it from Nets guard Jarrett Jack, who provided them to players on both teams. A few NFL players had the saying written on different items of gear and shirts during pregame warm ups before games on Sunday, including St. Louis Rams guard Davin Joseph and Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush and Cleveland Browns cornerback Johnson Bademosi.
“Obviously as a society we have to do better, we have to have empathy better for one another no matter what race you are, but it’s more a shout-out to the family more than anything,” James said before warming up.
Irving had already gone to the court in his as James spoke. James said at the time it was a “possibility” he would do the same, and he was wearing the shirt when he unzipped his yellow and gray jacket in the layup line.
The statement from the players came before a game that was to be attended by Britain’s Prince William and his wife, Kate, as well as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
“I respect Derrick Rose and all of our players for voicing their personal views on important issues but my preference would be for players to abide by our on court attire rules,” Silver said.
Players are required to wear attire of Adidas, the league’s official apparel provider.
A recording of Garner’s arrest showed him gasping, “I can’t breathe” during the fatal encounter, and thousands have protested a grand jury decision not to indict the officer since the announcement on Wednesday.
Irving also said his thoughts were with Garner’s family.
“What happened is a tragedy, I feel terrible about it, but my emotions are just more or less condolences for the family,” Irving said

9th Wonder’s Jamla Impresses in Cape Town

North Carolina Grammy Award-winning producer 9th Wonder (who sometimes raps under the moniker 9thmatic) is now more than just a reputable hip hop producer whose production credits appear on albums by artists like Jay Z, Erykah Badu, Ludacris, Mary J Blige, Destiny’s Child, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Jean Grae, David Banner, Dilated Peoples, Skyzoo, Sean Price and many others. He’s now a family man, a hip hop academic and lecturer at universities (North Carolina Central University & Duke) and an indie record label owner among other titles. In 2006, he founded Jamla Records which is home to a handful of North Carolina emcees – Rapsody, Big Remo, HaLo, duo Actual Proof, GQ, Heather Victoria, TP, The Away Team and Add-2. A few months ago, Jamla announced a South African tour which comprised of a Johannesburg and a Cape Town stop.
The tour, which was headlined by 9th himself and rappers Rapsody and HaLo, involved a music conference which took place in Jo’burg. The Cape Town leg of the tour, which I got to experience last week, kicked off with a meet-and-greet session at concept store and project space Boaston Society on the city’s world-famous Long Street. Hosted by Cape Town emcee Andy Mkosi who is slowly becoming a notable name in The Mother City’s hip hop scene, the meet-and-greet took on the tired theme of “women in the entertainment industry”. Andy’s personal take on the issue was that being a female doesn’t [or at least shouldn’t] put one at an advantage or disadvantage in the entertainment industry. “You shouldn’t be a female presenter or a female rapper but simply just a presenter or rapper, she said. Rapsody admitted that she used to embrace being addressed as a female emcee or “femcee” until she realised that it put her in a box. “People are always like: ‘Oh, you need to beef with Jean Grae, or throw some shots at Nicki. You’re the hottest female emcee’ but where do I stand with the rest of the emcees?” she said.
