Eminem, as is usually the case, has come under fire for recent lyrics
in tracks he’s released as part of the rollout for Shady Records’
15-year anniversary celebration. In particular, two lyrics have stuck
out, one aimed at Lana Del Rey, the other towards Iggy Azalea. But it
was the Shady Cypher, in which Em rapped, ”I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right
in the face twice like Ray Rice” that initially sparked controversy.
Recently, in an interview with RKulture, Crooked I defended his label boss against the backlash.
“Have they ever heard an Em song before?” Crooked asked when
questioned if the backlash was blown out of proportion. “I mean unless
you live under a rock you know Em is going to say shit like that. To me a
cypher is a blood sport anyway. No country for soft lyrics.”
Crooked and his group Slaughterhouse both appear on the new Shady XV compilation alongside Eminem, Yelawolf and more, which you can stream here.
Meanwhile, check out the Shady Cypher below. Do you think Eminem
crossed the line? And should people be surprised after all these years?
